A transparent eels caught on camera off the east coast of Bali. Larval
eels taken and loaded Wired.com Bali Reef Divers. Eel-like ribbons, very
thin and barely visible eyes. During the larval phase, these eels do
not have red blood cells. They are small organs and internal tissues
transparent, helping them to avoid predators. In the larvae, called
leptocephalus Latin eel or a small head.
Initially, larval eels ascribed worm eggs. Then regarded as a fish.
However, in the end, leptocephalus regarded as no different from the eel
larvae. Larval period itself can last anywhere from three to more than
one year. Scientists are not sure eel larvae food. However, they suspect
these larvae eat the tiny particles floating in the sea.
